On Sunday afternoon, October 13th, the Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope will host the 5th Annual La Fiesta de Arte at El Molcajete Restaurant in Geneva, IL from 3-6pm.
Our featured Artist is Mary Lucile O’Halloran (Mary Lu) who was inspired by Alyssa when she met her and has spent this past summer creating exclusive one of a kind art for the silent auction which will benefit AAFH music and art programs.
Mary Lu, a 41 year resident of Geneva, Illinois, received both her M.A. degree in painting in 1976 and M.F.A. in painting in 1978 from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. She has exhibited widely in solo and group shows in Chicago and other places: Neville Sargent Gallery, Beacon Street Gallery, Joyce Wood Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery of Chicago, The Center Gallery-Northern Illinois University, Clarke College -Dubuque, Iowa, Saint Charles Public Library, Norris Gallery-Saint Charles, Clay and Caboodle Gallery in Geneva, Saint john Neumann Catholic Church-St. Charles, Illinois, Geneva Forum for the Arts, Western Ave. School-Geneva and numerous private collections.
Mary Lu is married to John O’Halloran for 46 years and has 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren.
She is a former art teacher - kindergarten through eighth grade, middle school and high school-freshman through senior year. Mary Lu is also a certified life coach for high school and college-age students.
Mary Lu has partaken in many endeavors involving her art talents and skills throughout the Geneva School District 304. She has been involved in every facet of the healthy development of children and youth so they can become the best version of themselves and follow their hopes and dreams. She has also been involved in ministries which help promote the healing process for victims of abuse of any kind.
