The Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope (AAFH) fulfilled a gift request of professional art supplies to Rosalia. on Monday, November 4, 2019. Rosalia is a 17-year-old being treated at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. This is where we met and delivered the gift to Rosalia with her Mom, Teresa, also present. Teresa also attended and spoke at our La Fiesta de Arte event last month about Rosalia’s fight against her cancer diagnosis.

Also present at the delivery was Willow Messier-Art Therapist and her assistant, Esmeralda. Willow provided art therapy to Alyssa while she was a patient at Lurie Children’s Hospital and helped us select the proper art supplies to create the different types of Alyssa Starter Art Kits we donate to hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses across the Chicagoland area.

Rosalia met Willow while receiving her treatment at Lurie’s. She has a love of art and particularly the work of the French Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. She is working on a piece inspired by his work that she hopes will be displayed at her high school. We hope Rosalia gets to express her creativity and receives enjoyment from the professional art materials she received from AAFH.

Thanks to Willow, we continue to receive gift requests on our website from children being treated at Lurie’s. It is our pleasure to honor gift requests of art supplies or musical instruments in keeping with Alyssa’s passion for the arts and our Foundation’s mission.

Many thanks to our donors for your continued financial support!
