On Thursday, November 19, 2015, Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope hosts the second Music Night at RMH in Winfield. There were 10 volunteers who participated in this event - Seven of the students were from the Yorkville High School's Madrigal Strings and 2 from Yorkville's Madrigal orchestra as well as a talented musician, Grace Gayhart, from Buffalo Grove High School Orchestra.
We met Iris, a 18 year old girl who is being treated atthe Proton Center in Warrenville and staying at RMH in Winfield until she completes her treatment just before Christmas day. Iris likes to work on art projects and was excited to learn about Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope. She immediately liked us on AAFH facebook and submitted her gift request via Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope website before the Music performance began!
We also met Dale, a 16 year old boy who is also staying at RMH in Winfield while he goes through his treatment. After the performance, the Madrigal students show the teen patients their instruments and they are able to play the instruments. Dale said “I have not had this much fun at RMH until today when I met the AAFH volunteers”.
