Landon Griffey is a 10 year old boy from Clarksville, Tennessee. He arrived at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on May 18, 2015 where he is being treated for Juvenile Myositis (JM) by a specialist in this disease.
When volunteers from the Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope (AAFH) were at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago (RMH) preparing meals for the families staying there on July 11th, 2015, several of AAFH volunteers met Landon’s Grandpa, Scott. He told us that his grandson Landon would have enjoyed our Italian spaghetti meal, but unfortunately he was in the Internal Care Unit at Lurie Children’s Hospital.
On September 12, 2015, Landon’s Mom, Melissa, submitted a gift request for Landon via the AAFH website and we immediately contacted Melissa so we could fulfill Landon’s request.
After Landon completed his morning therapies at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), Monday, September 21st, AAFH Executive Team surprised Landon during his lunchtime at RMH and presented him with his brand new Sony Over-the-Ear Bluetooth Headphones!
Landon likes to listen to country music and he will continue to share more of his journey next week at the Circles of Music performance we are having Tuesday, September 29th from noon to 1pm at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Stay tuned to learn more about Landon!
