Sunday, October 11th Advisory Board Member, Carmen Ziegler, and Yoli met Juan DeLaRosa and his mom, Juanita Villasenor for the first time. It was a beautiful encounter to finally meet Juan and present him with his new Beats by Dre.
Juan shared with us that he likes to listen to metal music like Slipknot and System of a Down Band, Summers Last Stand. He also went to the Riot Fest in September and had a good time. Juan also likes to listen to alternative rock songs by Cage the Elephant and Rage Against the Machine. When he was in elementary school, he played the bass clarinet for four years and now he is interested in learning how to play the drums. He hopes to start a band with his friends.
Juan continues to be treated at Rush Hospital in Chicago and now goes every couple months for check-ups and takes chemo orally. He is feeling good and going to high school. This is his junior year and he recently got a part-time job at McDonald’s. He is happy to make some money.
Juan was excited to open his gift and use his new blue Beats headphones as soon as he got a chance. Juanita shared with us that as soon as he got in the car, Juan listened to his music while driving back home. Juan and Juanita want to thank the entire Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope (AAFH) team for the love and kindness we show them. They extend their gratitude and appreciation to AAFH.
