A week ago, we held a Miniature Golf Benefit in support of the Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope.  Vince's friends, Valerie Bender, Dan Modjeski and Tyler Willer hosted this event at Wheeler Park in Geneva, IL.

This was Alyssa's favorite park because as a little girl she liked to go on the swings and play in the playground.  When she was in middle school, she liked to go there to play tennis. Then in high school, Alyssa enjoyed the 18 hole miniature golf with her friends.

Many of Alyssa's high school friends and their families came out to have fun with us and to raise funds.  This will enable the Foundation to prepare Alyssa's Starter Art Kits (SAKs) for the benefit of young people going through cancer treatments.  Each SAK contains acrylic and water colors, paint brushes, various canvas sizes and other miscellaneous art supplies.

We concluded the Golf Benefit by releasing 20 balloons in celebration of Alyssa's 20th birthday!  Each balloon had the Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope's website, a number from 1-20, and a note encouraging people to like us on the Foundation's Facebook page.  If a balloon was found, a message attached to the balloon asked the person who found it to post a note on the Foundation's Facebook page.  We asked that the note include where they found the balloon and the balloon number.  Balloon #14 was found by Carolyn Thomas in Joliet, IL.

Alyssa was 14 years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia however she continued to create music and art.  Our mission is to help other children and young adults throughout their cancer treatments by giving them Hope and some joy through music and art.  Alyssa never gave up HOPE!
